103 The Eye broadcasts
Wellbeing Announcements several times a day, kindly sponsored by Melton
Care Services, telephone 01664 569943. Here are some of the testimonials
we have received about the feature:
I believe the Health promotion
programme on 103 The Eye is extremely valuable and interesting to the
local Community. It allows residents to hear about any health
promotions, and gives them good and relevant advice on health issues -
be that talking about food, or wellbeing.
Items like Swap your Slippers allow elderly people to take in their
slippers and be issued with a new pair helping to reduce trips and falls
in the home thereby reducing the cost of treatment to the NHS.
Local people can also email or telephone to ask any relevant questions
they may have. The programme can also highlights services such as GP
referrals for exercise.

We
have had several opportunities to talk about our volunteer programme,
the Leicestershire Master Gardeners, and the Melton Community Allotment
where some of our volunteers support new food growers in and around
Melton. It has been an excellent means of raising awareness of both the
services that our volunteers offer and of inspiring listeners to have a
go at growing their own food.

Coordinator, Leicestershire Master Gardeners

Thank you for putting out the postponement notice for our
Annual Open Meeting of the Patient Reference Group.
We are so grateful for this facility - it is such a bonus for our Group,
giving us the opportunity to publicise important health related matters
free of charge - as we have no budget allocation.
Best wishes and renewed thanks,

We are about to embark on the next two months releasing quite a
substantial number of new radio fillers (around 20+). We are grateful to
all radio stations who are able to support our impartial public health
or welfare causes, helping communities, by airing these - communicating
worthwhile messages.
Thanks very much to you at 103 The Eye for your
support !

On
behalf of the Old Dalby Day Committee I thank you for your help over the
past few days. You broadcast our appeal for new volunteers and I am
delighted to tell you that you reached further than we thought.
We have several new volunteers because of you. For anyone reading this,
we need more, however, the event is so big. If you can help, please get
back to me here. Thanks again.

Dear
Christine – Thank you very much for inviting me to join in to Ling’s
programme on Tuesday. It was lovely to meet her.
The concert was a great success. The church was full with over 350 people in
the audience. I think we will have made £3,000 for St James’ Church, Burton
Lazars, in memory of Sandy.
Thank
you for your help. Best wishes.

Dear
Christine – I would sincerely like to thank 103 The Eye in helping us to
promote village events. Our recent village hall Nearly New Sale was a great
success this weekend despite the dreadful weather, but we had a good day
following your help in promoting the event on both your website and on air.
Your
continued help in promoting our village events is invaluable. My very best
wishes for the future.

Dear Christine
I am writing to thank you for
broadcasting the 'promo' re the open day at the Hamilton Lawn Tennis
Club on 25 March. I'm glad to say that the open day was well
supported by juniors and adults and it was very encouraging to see
so many people enjoying coaching.
Several people joined the club on the day and others showed interest
in returning for more coaching. Today there were several juniors who
came in on the open day returning for another session so the Open
Day was a success.
Many thanks again for your help.
Best Wishes, Maggie

103 The Eye intensively
advertised The Hi Fi Wigwam Show at Scalford Hall in the days
leading up to the event on 19 March, and we had a really good
attendance of visitors.
The station's presenters Big E and Jan The Legend did a great
outside broadcast, and a big charity raffle staged on the day raised
a massive amount of £3,390.40 for cancer research.
Thanks to everyone involved in helping to make this event a success.

Hi Christine
Just to let you know that we had a really successful jumble sale. We
raised near £800 for our church fund
earlier this year.
When we asked people how they heard about it, several people said
they had heard it on your radio station 103 The Eye or read your
calendar.
That's great to know we can rely on you to publicise our events! A
really big thank you!

Hi
Christine
I just want to say a massive thank you from myself and everyone at
Countesthorpe Community College for your participation at our
Careers Day. I know that a lot of preparation goes into planning the
talks, alongside your attendance on the day, so thanks for taking
the time out to support these students.
All of the Year 10s
are coming up to a crucial age where they will need to decide what
they want to do after college so this experience is vital for them
to learn about the world of work and help with their choices.
Without the input of our business volunteers they wouldn't get such
a valuable experience and the event wouldn't be the success that it
is. It is truly appreciated. Once again thank you for your support.

Hello Christine - just to say a huge thank you for all the publicity
you gave to Eastwell Fete this year (and for quite a few past
years). The regular coverage was fantastic, and I'm sure it
encouraged many people to come along. We have had comments that this
year attracted a record number of visitors.
We raised a total of £3,753.68, which is by no means a record in
itself, but it is certainly a satisfying total and will go a long
way to help paying the parish share. So - many, many thanks. Your
help is really appreciated.

Dear Christine,
I am just writing to let you know I enjoy listening to your station,
particularly to Gareth and Ryan who present the Rock 'N' Roll Show
from 6-8 pm on Tuesdays and Dennis Tarry 8-10 pm on Wednesdays.
Gareth and Ryan
have implemented an utmost professionalism when presenting the show
with an intermix of 50s and 60s quality music, always give me a
mention, and have all my requests – some obscure. They also have a
useful banter that makes me laugh and I can see why the station is
popular and has won an award.
Also my
favourite is Dennis Tarry presenting 60s music on Wednesdays 8-10
pm. Dennis plays all my requests, some obscure. He is a complete
gentleman, very professional and I thoroughly enjoy the interaction
with him on the telephone. He makes my nights highly enjoyable.
It is nice to
know a station like yours involves the public and I would like to
express my thanks to you and Patrick for ringing me back. It
demonstrates you both have time and patience and respect for me –
well done! Finally, just to say thank you – keep it up.
Kind regards, Marko from Wollaton

Dear Christine, Patrick and all the team at 103 The Eye
Many many
thanks for supporting our music and vintage and classic car night in
Melton town centre on June 26, 2015. Without your technical skills
and support, and professionalism by Mark Frisby I am sure the event
would not have been so much a success. Hundreds of people attended
and had a brilliant night, thanks to our sponsors the BID. We are
now planning next year’s event on Friday, 24 June. So can we have
the same arrangement please, possibly with Mark doing the
continuity.
Thank you

Hello Christine and all at 103 The Eye,
We at John Ferneley College would like to thank you sincerely for
your contribution to our annual Industry Day. The students were very
excited to be given the opportunity to be interviewed by people for
a ‘real’ radio station and to then hear this a few days later on
your Sunday show.
We appreciate all you do for the college and for the community and
feel Melton Mowbray and the surrounding areas benefit immensely from
this radio station.
Thank you once again and we look forward to next Industry Day!

Hi Christine

Following
our session with you on the radio, we had a very successful concert
at Long Clawson Church. I would like to say a very big thank you to
you all at 103 The Eye.
Also through
the community radio could you thank all the people that helped from
the group that served tea and cakes to those that put out the
posters and handed out the programmes.
Thanks also
to St Remigius Church for hosting the concert, and to the Melton
Mowbray Building Society and Long Clawson Dairy for their donations.
We managed
to raise an excellent amount of £950 to go to Cancer Research.

I would just
like to say a huge 'thank you' for inviting me back as a guest to
your radio station this afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on
air with Ling and Sue.
As well as
being interviewed about my business and background, which is very
beneficial, it gave me a very good insight as to how tight timings
are when you're running a radio show.
Ling and Sue made me feel very welcome and comfortable in the
studio; they make a great double act.
Please pass on
my thanks to them, it was great to meet them both.

Bingham Parish Church would like to thank 103 The Eye for participating
in our recent successful Christmas Tree Festival.
Not only did they provide a decorated Christmas Tree to join the 85
others on display in our lovely old church but they also gave us very
welcome publicity on their website and in their local news items on air.
They also attended
our Preview and Official Opening where they interviewed our acting
bishop Richard Inwood. Their coverage gave us publicity in areas further
afield and we’re sure helped to bring visitors from some of the outlying
villages in the Vale.

Dear Christine and Everyone
at 103 The Eye,
We would like to thank you
for having Lauren with you for the week of her work
experience. She thoroughly enjoyed herself and learnt so
much during her time with you, we feel it has really brought
her out of herself.
From the first day when she
had the opportunity to speak on air, although at home we
could hear just how nervous she was, through the week where
on Thursday she was given the opportunity to ‘drive’ the two
hour show under the guidance of Billy Ray and onto Friday
where she spent the day at Candleby Lane with Mr Elliott and
the children and some very expensive kit!
There are many things she
speaks of including the television crew filming a
documentary, the guy from the Air ambulance, the reading of
the weather forecast and generally speaking to so many
different people.
We just can’t thank you
enough for allowing Lauren this marvellous opportunity and
she is looking forward to spending more time with The Eye in
the future.
Yours sincerely

"I want to thank you for a great work experience in
December, I really enjoyed it and learnt so much interesting
stuff about the radio and how it is run. Not putting it
mildly, it was definitely one of the most interesting weeks
of my life. I would definitely love to go back at some
point! Once again, thank you so much for a brilliant week. "
Hello Christine
We
would like to thank you for arranging the interview with Dr
Margaret Herrington who talked about the arts and crafts
exhibition we held at Tilton-on-the-Hill on 30-31 May 2014.

raised over £1,400 to help with the restoration work at St

Thank you.

Dear Christine and Patrick
I just
wished to thank you, and also let you know that the concert last
Sunday, featuring the Holman Climax Male Voice Choir from
Cornwall and the St Mary's Church Choir, was a complete success
and raised £700 towards the Church's Re-Ordering and Restoration
Project.
I do sincerely thank you and Karl for allowing me to visit the
studio to talk about the concert and feel that helped to raise
awareness of the concert and boost the audience, so we thank you
for the exposure and the Radio's support.
Kindest Regards

Hi Christine,
Thank you so much for inviting Chris and I back
to 103 The Eye to take part in your Community Focus radio show
with Steve and Patrick, to discuss our Awards.
You were all so kind and we really do appreciate
all the air time you gave us to talk about The Willows Natural
Burial Ground and Dying Matters.
A lot of the press releases we sent out, about our awards, were
completely ignored by others, we think because it mentions death
and dying and some people are afraid to tackle that. It is
comforting to know that your station is not afraid to discuss
such matters and handled the topic so well.
Once again many thanks
Jenny and Chris, The Willows Natural Burial

Hi Christine and
Patrick, it was great to see you both and be back in the studio.
The Help For Heroes night was a great success. On the night we

outstanding. I thank you for allowing me to come and promote the
night on air and for playing our promo. Keep up the good work.

Dear Christine and All at The Eye
Just a
quick note to say a very big thank you for all your team's hard
work in helping to make the new Summer Music and Dance festival
a brilliant success. Without everyone's help we could not have
carried it off.
So please
pass on my comments to all concerned and thank them very much.

Thank you.

Dear Patrick and Christine – We
just wanted to drop you a line to thank you for the lovely piece
you aired about our open garden on Sunday.
We're sure it made people make
the effort to visit us, because we had over 100 people, who
probably all had a cup of tea and piece of cake, so together
with some plant sales we are able to pass on to the National
Gardens Scheme a sum of £502, which is really great.
So thank you both once again, and we hope your station goes from
strength to strength

I discovered this radio station last night
at 3am after a gruelling evening making the final edit of a

Christine, thanks for all your help in publicising the
Eastwell Fete this year. It's great having the opportunity to
talk about it on air - and it was an even greater help this year
having it plugged over the week before the event. We all really
appreciate it.
The day raised a total of £3,220.00: in this current
climate of economic despair and gloom, we're very pleased with
the result. We certainly had a great day weather wise.
Hopefully I'll be in touch again next year, when we
celebrate our 20th Eastwell Fete.

Good morning Crackers,
I just wanted to
say a big thank you to 103 The Eye, for having me as a guest on
the show on Sunday to talk about the International Baby Loss Day
events that were taking place in Melton.
We had a huge
turn out for both the bulb planting and the wave of light baby
memorial service at St Mary's church. It means so much to all
those who attended to be able to remember their babies lost to
miscarriage, stillbirth or neo natal death, at these events.
Thank you for
letting more people know about this annual event which I'm
sure we will be back next year to promote again, if you'll allow
us! Thank you again for supporting Stephens Footprints

Dear The Eye, Congratulations on an

What a knowledge he has attained over

We would like to express our grateful appreciation to
103 The Eye for its kind support of our recent Christmas
tree festival. Not only did you sponsor a Christmas tree
but you gave excellent coverage of the event, giving us
very welcome publicity. In particular, we should like to
thank your reporter, Christine, for the time she
spent inspecting the trees so that these could be
described in detail, and for interviewing our rector. As
you are aware, the primary purpose of the festival was
for us to work with the community for the benefit of the
Parish Church which has been part of that community for
many hundreds of years and its Parish Hall, itself a
much-used community facility. Your support was a good
example of the type of partnership we enjoyed with many
other commercial and charitable organisations. we are
pleased to report that the festival raised in the region

Thank you for the opportunity to promote Compost Awareness week
recently. Janet and I really enjoyed the experience and were
made to feel very welcome and relaxed by your team. We were able to
make the case for home composting as the greenest way of disposing
of kitchen and garden waste and to talk about the work of
Leicestershire volunteer Master Composters.
I have been looking for some time for a regular radio slot to talk
about green issues including composting, recycling and all household
waste reduction methods - what's new, seasonal ideas, answering
questions etc. This subject usually does provoke a lot of interest
in the community. I would be happy to come over to the
studio say once a month if you think it might be useful.
We
also gained a fascinating insight into community radio and the great
work that you do. Thanks again.

Thank
you to 103 The Eye for inviting me into the studio on Sunday

I am
always happy to talk to any club, organization or individual about

children is a vital service in the community.

I have just got
a new internet radio and tuned to The Eye. Please pass on
congratulations to whoever came up with the Sunday afternoon format.
I do not know the name of the lady on the show. I
did hear her say she was sitting in for someone who was snowed in, but I
guess the format would have been the same anyhow. I liked the feature on
the Mayor's concert - that was REAL COMMUNITY RADIO.
Now I've got The Eye on the
memo I will have to listen to the Drivetime Jock - I heard he is quite
good ! My wife and I have both enjoyed the refreshing change to the
bland pop/rap that most of the others put out. Once again tell them well
done.

Sherard Primary Carol Concert
Thank you very much for
broadcasting some of this concert. It was a lovely performance and I know
the children had worked very hard to learn the songs.
Thanks to all those who put so
much work in to enable the concert to go ahead.

I really enjoyed my week at The
Eye and I enjoyed it so much that I hope to come back. Everyone I met over
the week was really welcoming and on the Friday I was really sad to leave.
I learnt so much about the technical side
of a radio station and the presenting and I think that this experience has
been very valuable for me. It was definitely worth the effort of finding my
own placement because I have had the best time and will always remember this
week. I do hope that I will return because it really was so much fun.
So thank you to all the team at 103
The Eye for making this experience so enjoyable but especially Christine who
has taught me a lot to do with journalism and for organising so many
interesting activities for me to take part in.
Kitty Broome - Belvoir High School,
Bottesford (student on work experience)
Thank you for the opportunity
to read some of my poems on air a week last Sunday. After the initial
nervousness, I quite enjoyed myself, I hope your listeners did too.
Please pass on my thanks to
Patrick and Jerry, who made the whole experience less frightening because of
their friendliness.
I would like to take you
up on your offer to record some more, as mentioned by yourself, and look
forward to hearing from you.
Regards, Jill Palmer
Many thanks
for interviewing me on the radio to promote our charity event. Just to give you
an update on the Barcelona
bangers launch party. The night was a fantastic success for all involved and in
total we raised £1500 for LOROS (the Leicestershire Hospice). The auction alone
made £750.
Not only did
we have people come to the event directly from the interview, but we also sold
the auction lot you offered of an hour on the radio for £65 – all of which goes
to LOROS.
This thanks
comes from all of the Magnificent 7 Team. Keep up the good work!

I
listened to your recording of the Town Estate Band
Concert on The Eye on Sunday morning. The recording
was very professional and entertaining and brought
the whole event back to life!
Several people who missed the actual concert said
how nice it was to hear a recording of the event,
and that it was truly a service for the local
community - well done.
Please carry on providing this extremely useful and
entertaining Community Radio Station.

The return of this year’s
Melton Mowbray Country Fair was boosted by the help of
presenters and staff at 103 The Eye who supported the
Fair by providing on site commentary at the event. A
host of presenters kept visitors informed and amused
throughout the day which helped the event go with a
swing. Our thanks for the on-air and website publicity
given to the event. This publicity has helped to put the
fair back on the Melton Events calendar.
Plans
for next year are already underway and we hope that more
local groups, craftworkers, entertainers and local food
producers will want to get involved. Many thanks 103 the
Eye!

Thank you for your assistance.
I came onto your community
programme to talk about the Special Constables and a recruitment
event we were holding at the Local Police Station. From all the
publicity and support we have received we had a very successful
event and exceeded our expectations,
Thank you to 103 The Eye for
helping Melton Police achieve its goals.
Police Sergeant Joanne Hodson
Please can I say a big thank you to all of The Eye team for
advertising my village barn dance all of last week. It took place on
Saturday 1st November and was a great success.
We have raised £971 (£612 on the night) towards the Waltham Church
repair fund. Thanks to all who attended. - RIKY FENTON *****
Congratulations and
best wishes on the 3rd Anniversary of The Eye. Long may your
popular and successful Radio Station continue!

"On behalf
of the Open Day Working Group at Brooksby Melton College, I would like to
thank 103 The Eye FM for attending and staging the live broadcast from the
event. Students, staff and visitors enjoyed seeing a live broadcast,
especially as it was delivered from the Old Hall where there was a constant
stream of visitors enjoying gourmet coffee and cakes.
"The whole live broadcast was professionally delivered and I do hope that
your audience enjoyed the event commentary as much as we did giving the live
interviews across a whole range of subject areas. It was also a great
opportunity for some of our students to be interviewed and for them to have
the chance of sharing some of the exciting things which they’d been involved
with on the day.
"It is a credit to the radio station the professionalism of the presenters
as I know the day was very tiring as it required a high level of
concentration."
Jane Lloyd, Marketing and External Liaison Co-ordinator.

"I would just
like to thank all the volunteers at 103 The Eye for your help towards my
dissertation. As I am sure you are aware this is a major part of my BA (Hons)
Media & Communications degree at Birmingham City University and the help
from 103 The Eye has proven extremely useful and interesting within my
research of Community Radio.
After
completing my dissertation I have now received my grades and will be
graduating with a 1st Class Honours degree.
Once again many thanks to all the team who contributed towards my research
and good luck with all the broadcasting, training, fund raising etc in the
future.
Kind Regards,

"On behalf of all of us on the May
Festival Committee, and indeed the villagers of Wymondham, I would like to
say a big 'thank you' to you and the 103 team for attending our event and
hosting the proceedings. The service you give to events in a small
rural community such as ours is integral to their success and fund raising
and the day was indeed a success !
"We would certainly support you in
any bids for sponsorship or funding by way of testimony to the valuable
contribution you make to the Melton Borough. Thank you again and
please pass on our appreciation to the team - you made the day!

On behalf of the Church
Fundraising Committee, I would like to thank you most sincerely for
your kind promise for our Auction of Promises held on 13th June as
part of the Stathern Festival.
The auction was a great
success and we raised over £2000. Many thanks again for your support
of our event. It was very much appreciated.
With very best wishes,

I would just like
to thank you all for giving out on air the details for the Old
Melton evening which took place tonight. We were delighted that we
had 55 people attending including lots of visitors. Several of them
told me they had heard it on Melton Eye radio, so I thought it would
be encouraging for you to know that fact!
Many thanks for
your help. Kind regards.

THANK YOU 103 THE EYE FOR PROMOTING OUR FAMILY
DAY
Hi 103, Just want to thank you for coming down to our Family Day on
Sunday. We had 130 people on the day and everyone had a good time.
In fact, one of the happy cricketers said he hasn't laughed so much
in years.
The Challenge Cup was presented to Waltham Cricket Club who
accumulated 92 points on the day beating Melton Mowbray Cricket Club
by 20 points.
The day has raised approx £600 towards our junior team project for
the coming years. Peter Hood - Melton
Mowbray Cricket Club
